Protecting Pearson Creek

The Pinetum contains two natural springs that form the headwaters of Pearson Creek.

Pearson Creek is listed as an impaired waterway by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. It flows into the James River and contributes to to the drinking water of the City of Springfield. The Pinetum seeks to conserve the greenspace surrounding the headwater springs of Pearson Creek to help protect this natural resource. We maintain a riparian corridor along our portion of Pearson Creek and the springs with extensive plantings of native plants to stablize the soil and prevent erosion, help clean the water and distribute seeds of these native plants through the watershed.
